I think that $20 is an appropriate sum if you really want to help the charity organization of your choice. Because I would like to gather $10 million dollars, I need at least half a million people who are willing to make a donation/contribution. If the minimum were set at $1, I would need up to 10 million people. Such numbers are hard to achieve.
